COSMETIC GYNAECOLOGY

Cosmetic Gynaecology is a subspecialty of aesthetic surgical corrections to address women’s anatomical and functional changes to the pelvic floor. This area of elective surgery for women involves specialists in gynaecology, urology, urogynecology, and plastic surgery. The changes to the pelvic floor over time, age and due to events like pregnancy, childbirth may affect the internal and external structure and appearance of vagina. Cosmetic gynaecology enables women to make improvements in genital aesthetic appearance and function of the vulvo/vaginal region and labia.

This subspecialty offers various procedures to address different kind of problems perceived by women.

LABIAPLASTY:

addresses the size (enlargement) and shape (asymmetry) of labia majora and labia minora which can cause discomfort while engaging in sexual intercourse or while exercising and playing sports, recurring urinary tract infection besides feeling self- conscious. It is one of the most known procedures. This outpatient procedure can be done to improve function of labia majora and labia minora to address the challenges mentioned above or it could be done for aesthetic purposes to improve the psychological wellbeing of the patient.

VAGINAL REJUVENATION:

Vaginal muscles are elastic in nature as they have a property to stretch (during childbirth) and then contract (which is a gradual process). However, due to hormonal changes, ageing and due to events like childbirth, the contraction does not happen completely, and women may experience Vaginal Laxity Syndrome (VLS). To treat VLS, vaginal tightening procedure is performed. Vaginal tightening procedures can be done in two ways: Surgically and non-surgically.

Surgical Vaginal tightening is also known as Vaginoplasty and involves surgical intervention to remove the skin inside vagina. This procedure is taken up for extreme cases where tearing has been observed in the muscles. On the other hand, non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation treatment involves the use of laser and radio requency which triggers the formation of collagen, naturally resulting in tightening of the vagina.

URINARY INCONTINENCE:

is the involuntary leakage of urine and this condition is highly prevalent in today’s population. It is a highly embarrassing issue that a woman can face which can affect her quality of life, socializing and her physio-psychological wellbeing. There may be many factors involved behind this problem like menopause, age, childbirth, and genetics.

The treatment of urinary incontinence is offered mostly non-surgically but for extreme cases surgical intervention is required. The latest non-invasive procedure includes the use of “BTL Emsella Chair” which is electromagnetic and provides the treatment for weak floor muscles by producing supramaximal Kegel exercises. Another treatment known as “FemiLift Laser” induces collagen renewal which leads to tissue remodelling and rejuvenation.
